The new 27cm Microplane Elite Coarse Grater easily grates hard and medium-firm cheeses, such as Parmesan, Romano and cheddar, as well as a wide range of fruits and vegetables, from pears, apples and coconuts, to potatoes, squash and cabbage. Perfect for preparing casseroles, fritters, soups, salads, muffins and loaf breads, the Coarse Blade is ideal when more toothsome texture is called for in cooking and baking. 

Unique to Microplane graters, the new Elite series includes a transparent cover that doubles as a grating catch feature and measuring cup with generous 1-cup capacity.

In 1990 the original Microplane was invented merely as a new type of woodworking tool. Microplane as we now know it is now a complete range of kitchen graters for every type of grating possible. Microplane graters' tiny razor-like edges are formed by a process called photoetching by which holes are dissolved with a chemical, creating ultra-sharp cutting edges that finely slice the food instead of tearing or shredding.
